Olympia Express - a remarkable story
Around 1930, Luigi Bresaola developed his very first espresso machine in Switzerland, aimed specifically at the restaurant trade. In doing so, he laid the foundation for the Olympia Express brand. The inventor and tinkerer was considered one of the pioneers of his time. With great ambition and verve, he worked on his machines until they convinced him with their absolute perfection. About 30 years later, the company added espresso machines for private households to its product range - and celebrated a great success. Demand was high, thanks above all to the compactness, reliability and high quality of the machines. The espresso machines were quickly sold all over the world - as far away as London, San Francisco, Chile and Singapore.
The brand through the ages
In the 80s and 90s, the Olympia Express brand suffered some turbulence, and then in 2007 it was re-established once again in a different form. Today, the company produces in Switzerland in the mountain canton of Glarus. However, nothing has changed in the philosophy of that time. The company's main focus is still on developing high-quality, high-performance espresso machines and espresso grinders for private and professional baristas. Perfection in terms of workmanship and materials is particularly important to this manufacturer. Just like Luigi Bresaola once did, the development team still tinkers with every little detail until it is absolutely perfect.
Espresso lovers will find the Olympia Express Cremina to be a high-quality handheld machine. Its predecessor, the Cremina 67, was already highly praised by the press and called the "best espresso machine in the world" by the New York Times, for example. The Olympia Express Maximatic, on the other hand, is a semi-automatic machine that is ideal for anyone who wants to prepare delicious espresso in just a few steps. Last but not least, there is also the Moca as a high-quality coffee grinder.
What distinguishes the Olympia Express range
Olympia Express is the first espresso machine manufacturer that has been using only chrome steel tanks since the early 1990s. These are more expensive to purchase, but come with two major advantages: First, they offer greater longevity, and second, they are neutral in taste. The chrome steel components are designed and manufactured under strict specifications in the company's own workshop. This is to ensure the best possible quality. Plastic is also dispensed with in other respects during production. In addition to chrome steel for the boiler, stainless steel, chrome and brass are used for the espresso machines. Furthermore, sustainability is close to the manufacturer's heart. All espresso machines in the range are therefore:
- - durable
- - repairable
- - environmentally friendly
It is the manufacturer's top priority that everyone who decides to buy an Olympia Express espresso machine or coffee grinder receives a companion that will last for decades - even if this means that new machines cannot be sold all the time.
